How to Self Install an Oven

Deciding on an oven to purchase is not an easy job. But once you have decided on which oven to buy, your troubles are not over yet. You have to settle accounts such as paying for the oven and the shipping as well. But once that is over with, you still have to make sure that the oven reaches your house. That glorious day when the package reaches your front door marks the time when your troubles are nearly done. Yes, nearly. You are not totally done yet. The problem of actually installing the unit is still ahead of you. But don not worry, this article is made to make your life just a little bit easier. Speaking of making lives easier, of course you can hire somebody to install the oven for you. It is worry free and work free. But if you are feeling a little handy, then here are the things you are going to need in order to successfully install your own oven by yourself. You are going to need a drill and a screwdriver. Needless to say, you are going to also need your oven there with you. I am sure you already did this but you have to measure the size, the width and the shape of the area where your new oven is going to be. You need to make sure that the oven you bought is just the right size for its designated area. The next thing you need to do is to make sure there is a junction box next to or near where your oven is going to be. This is so that you can properly wire your electrical system. Also, check the manual for the voltage and other wiring requirements of the oven. Then, you are going to connect the wires of the oven to the junction box. This varies depending on the residence you're installing it in but generally you have to connect the red, black, white and sometimes green leads to their counterparts within the junction box in the branch circuit. The next step is to remove the oven door. Afterwards, gently place the oven in the designated space you set aside for it. Once it is in place, secure the oven to the area by using some bolts. Bolts are usually included with the oven. If you are cabinet doesn't have any holes, this is where your drill comes in. Attach any of the trim panels included with the ovens. Usually, there's a panel to be attached at the bottom and, sometimes, also the sides. After attaching, screw them in with the screws provided. Lastly, all you have to do now is to reattach your oven door and then close it. There you have it. Your brand new oven installed and ready to use. You can now rest and relax because here is where all the troubles and hassles of purchasing a brand new oven end. But wait, what are you going to cook for dinner?
